A Rose By Any Other Name...
By Tamura Price
I had so much success with my first two Time
Lapse Drawing Videos that I had to keep going! The creativity mindset was
flowing pretty well at this point and it was even easier to decide what
my next subject matter would be: a beautiful Rose Coloring Book Outline.
The Rose petals were so inviting! Before I began to draw I observed that the petals were overlapping each other. In my first Time Lapse Drawing Video of the wise looking Owl the space inside the Owl was completely open and easy to fill with my "Jigsaw" puzzle shapes. If I did the same thing here, it might look strange to have the overlapping sections all filled with a similar pattern. The results might seem too busy looking with the pattern overwhelming the original outlines of the Rose. However, as I studied the coloring book outline some more, I realized that it could look Pleasing if I Alternated the Filled-In Petals instead, kind of like what I did with the Second Time Lapse Video Drawing of the Pumpkin.
In the past, whenever I had tried to do alternating filled in spaces
without planning things first, I would inevitably become confused and
"Draw Myself Into a Corner" resulting in two filled-in sections being
right next to each other without an empty section between them. So the
probability was high with this More Complex Design that I might end up Repeating That Mistake. (Maybe
this has happened to you too? Getting so focused on each section that
we forget about the whole?)
Glad
I remembered this issue beforehand ⏤ I went to work Studying the Pattern
of the overlapping petals in order to Map Out My Strategy.
Unfortunately, no matter how many ways I tried there would still be a
spot that had two overlapping petals of the same pattern. So I tried to Minimize the Problem as best I could by choosing where that would look
best once it was finished. Phew! That was a Close One!
I am so pleased with the way it came out too! The negative space inside the blank petals emphasized the filled-in petals and made them stand out even more, producing a Stunning Result.

More adventures followed this one, and things started to snowball into more interesting directions. Some of them I never would have anticipated or even thought could happen!
